Since 2022, I’ve been selecting and performing my favorite trance songs of the year in late December, but the process of choosing which songs make it into these massive sets is not a simple one. In 2025 alone, over 10,000 trance songs were released and made available on Beatport. With such a variety available, I want to make sure to spread the love to more labels and artists than just my favorites. For those who wonder, here is the criteria which I follow as to what songs qualify for my Best Trance of the Year sets:
- Part 1 is sixty-nine (69) trance songs between the BPMs of 121 and 130 and is performed on the last Friday before Christmas.
- Part 2 is sixty-nine (69) trance songs between the BPMs of 131 and 140 and is performed for Weasel’s New Year’s Ravin’ Eve.
- The songs must have released between December 1 of the previous year and November 30 of the current one.
- Only one song per artist is allowed in each part, but vocalists are excluded.
- Each song must be an original release and not a remix, with minor exceptions.

These sets are all labors of love and I’m proud and excited to curate and perform them for you each year.
